To remember: The aim of the SABAUD is to safeguard  the poitou donkey.
In practice, the general idea was to raise approvable stallions in order to make them available to breeders and increase the genetic potential of the breed.
For this purpose, the association has a herd which has varied from twenty to thirty individuals.

This system has been in operation for over thirty years.
Currently, SABAUD is undergoing restructuring.
